Welcome to my first Android application! Its a basic feed and speed calculator for machinists. I was also nice enough to include a tap drill chart for standard (non-metric) taps.

Main Page

This is the main page of the application. To use please click on any of the three icons down bellow. The icon on the left is for milling calculations. The middle Icon is for the tap drill chart. Finally the icon on the right side is for lathe calculations.

  Milling and Lathe Calculations 

   

  • Fill in the required fields and press the button in the row. 
  • The value is displayed in the row above in a green color.
  •  If you need to revert to the original state click the reset button. 
  • If at any time you need help please click the help button. 
  • If you would like to revert to the main page just click on the back button.  

  Terminology

  
  

  • RPM: Revolutions Per Minute, how fast the spindle or work piece rotates
  • SFM: Surface feet Per Minute, how much the cutter travels over a minute
  • DIA: Diameter of the cutting tool or workpiece
  • IPM: Inch per minute, how fast the material is fed into the cutting tool.
  • FPT: Feed per tooth, how fast the material is feed per tooth
  • T: How many teeth in the cutting tool.
  • TPI: Threads per inch, how many threads found in one inch. Ex. 6-32 screw has 32 threads per inch.
  • FPR: Feed per revolution, how much material is fed to the cutter per revolution of the work piece
  • APR: Advance per revolution, how fast the tool advances
